Here's the link - http://www.phoenixsong.net/fanfiction/story/2481/As for the description - the premise of this story is an interview with the author of the first (and only) authorized biographer of Harry Potter - the story was written pre-HBP so the details from sixth year forward are different, but it doesn't seem to matter. I can't tell you how well written and original this story was - very believable from start to finish, I highly recommend it! Thu, Jul. 13th, 2006, 11:04 pm New Recs
Well, I had almost forgotten about this journal with the as crazy busy as life has been over the past year and a half, but since someone commented and reminded me it was here I thought I would add a few more recs while I have the time. :) Eternal Sunshine of the Scourgified Mind by Solstice Muse and the follow up Solitary Confinement. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2594688/1/Author summary: the trio have defeated Voldemort but paid a devastating price. How can they cope without each other and without any magical memories?Nominated for Phoenix feather award. I have to admit to some minor annoyance with the author's notes (I can't stand reading them, I always feel like it interrupts the flow of the story and if have to explain something in a note you haven't done a good enough job explaining things in the story itself) but other than that this is a wonderfully written, original and very compelling story. The story is complete. An Aunt's Love by Emma Lipardi http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2196609/1/Author summary: Harry comes home from school and Petunia is upset at the change in her nephew. Petunia decides to do what she should have been doing all along. Dumbledore had better stay away. Petunia Dursley is upset. This is a work in progress and I usually try to stay away from them, but this look at another side of Petunia was so interesting that I couldn't help myself. I'm now anxiously awaiting the next installment along with everybody else. Thu, Jul. 13th, 2006, 11:00 pm C2
Wow - it's been over a year since I've done anything with this. I've actually all but abandoned lj as all my friends now have myspace accounts (yes, I AM a sheep!). I have started a C2 over on ff.net if there's anyone interested. The title of it is Bewitch the Mind and Ensnare the Senses. It's in the Harry Potter category. Of course it's limited to only ff.net fics, but I think they're some of the best that ff.net has to offer. Take a look and let me know what you think!
I've been wanting to see this scene for the longest time. I was so fed up with the adults in HP by the end of book five that I wanted to scream. Instead Opalish has Ron take care of it for us in Chess which can be found at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2221913/1/.
A novel take on the DM/HP relationship, angsty and yet humourous at the same time. This story was actually updated again just yesterday and the authors keep to a relatively steady posting schedule so I have no fears that this will end up abandoned like so many other works in progress. Link: Per Solum Lacuna by Wintermoon and AzhureAuthor summary: A set of enchanted journals bring solace to two very unlikely lost souls. Whoever said the art of penmanship was lost? This is a wizarding twist on the old fashioned art of correspondence (or the modern art of Internet chatting). What will happen when the mystery writers finally discover the identity of their counterpart? Join this star crossed pair as they obliviously chat to each other; along the way learning about life and love. Find out what will happen when their own voyages of self discovery lead them to the most unlikely of places. This is eventual HP/DM, but there are other pairings for the protagonists along their journey.
The snape/granger pairing is enough to make many people wince, as it's relatively rare to find one that's well written and worth your time and eye strain. A Matter of Honor is one of those rare fics that takes the Hermione/Snape relationship above the level of a gothic bodice ripper. Very well written and definitely worth your time. This story is complete. Link: A Matter of Honor by McAmy Author Summary: Complete in 50 chapters (+3); rated PG-13 (inserts are strong R for graphic sex). Charts the course of Hermione's relationship with Snape from the end of her sixth year through her first year as a teacher. (They are not involved romantically while she is a student.)
This story is almost a fandom legend, but there may be a few of you out there who haven't read it yet. :) Very funny, make sure you're not reading it in a place where you would have to explain spontaneous outbursts of laughter! This story is complete. Link: Draco Malfoy the Amazing Bouncing....Rat by Maya Author Summary: Summary: Draco Malfoy, magically transformed into an evil rat. Who is it who always seems to get the evil rats as pets, and what is poor, poor Draco's new name? Eventually D/Hr, just now mainly D/coffee...
This story by akskully is a short but amusing take on how a relationship between Harry and Hermione might come about while they're still in school. I laughed throughout the story and found it an overall delightful read. This story is complete. Link: An assault on the senses by AKSkully Author summary: Summary: Ron was sick and tired of them dancing around. He was going to end it by any means necessary. Poor Harry and Hermione. DISCLAIMER: This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by JK Rowling, various publishers including but not limited to Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended. Author notes: This is a fluff piece. It’s fluff, fluff, fluff! If that’s not your thing, please move on. Any flames will be used to make s’mores. Nacey, thanks for looking this thing over and beta-ing it. You’re completely awesome in so many different ways. I’m anxiously awaiting updates on your fics. Thanks to everyone else who saw this on my journal and made lovely supporting comments. More chapters should be coming, uh, sometime.
I cannot rave enough about these stories. Copperbadge is an absolute genius and you'll simply have to read the stories to see what I mean. This story is another AU and in case you couldn't figure it out, another one of my favorite stories. Stealing Harry is complete, and the first book of Laocoon's Children is complete. Link: Stealing Harry The links to the two sequels are at the bottom of the Stealing Harry index page. Author Summary: What would happen if Lucius Malfoy got to Peter before Sirius did? And if Sirius followed his godson, forbidden to do more than watch him from a distance? Until, one day, Harry found Padfoot... Meet an eight-year-old Harry Potter, a Sirius Black who never went to Azkaban, a Remus Lupin with a steady income, a Severus Snape who can't help liking his archnemesis' son, and a Peter Pettigrew who thinks he could be the next Voldemort... This fanfic is rated R for violence and graphic sexual content. A secondary version has been edited for sexual content, but not violence, and references to homosexual relationships remain in the "Kid Friendly" sections. They are linked to from (kf) following each chapter. This fic is not, in general, recommended for those under the age of ten. Then again, have you read the books? *grin*
One of my more recent obsessions have been the severitus stories, and this is the first one I ever read and the one I still consider to be the best. Weighing in at 84 chapters it's definitely an epic story, but well worth the time spent at your computer. This story is complete. Link: Blood Magic by Gateway Girl Author Summary: Summary: Blood magic was supposed to keep Harry safe, but his relatives are expendable. Blood magic was supposed to keep Harry looking like his adoptive father, but it's wearing off. Blood, magic or not, is important to the wizarding world.... Author notes: This is a Severitus Challenge piece (Snape is Harry's father -- see www.geocities.com/challengefics/thechall enge.htm for details) which makes it intrinsically AU, but I wanted to play with some of the glossed-over implications of this scenario. Besides, Severus Snape is a blast to write! Pairings are numerous, varied, and may not mean what you expect. Snape, Harry, Lupin, Ron, Hermione, and Draco are all significant characters. SS/RL shippers will probably like this; HP/HG shippers may or may not, though it has some HP/HG. If you liked the way I did Snape in snakes and lions, you will probably enjoy this. I started this before OotP was released, so it is not completely consistent with book five, though I've mostly brought it into line. The only real inconsistances are that I've ignored Luna, though she will obviously be important in book six, and Moody and company did not read the riot act to the Dursleys at the beginning of summer.

Alright I know I've been awful, although if it helps at all I have tried to update three or four times now, I just have very unfortunate timing in that each time I've tried it has coincidentally been during a time when the livejournal server didn't let me update for some reason. Anyhow, to make up for it I'll be posting several recommendations today and I'll try to post at least one a week. I have no idea if anybody will ever read this or not, but if nothing else it's a great way for me to keep all my favorite fics stored without having to rely on internet explorer's favorites feature which for some reason doesn't like me very much.
Alright I'm a bad and evil person, and I haven't done anything with this, but life has been really crazy lately. I've got class four days a week, work has been insane lately and I'm in the middle of moving, which results in no internet access anywhere but at work. :( The good news is that it should all be over by the end of this week and life will be back to normal. I would have posted about this sooner, but I had no idea anybody even knew about this journal yet! So for anybody who's been waiting for an update I apologize, and promise I'll actually start posting recs soon, I've got a ton lined up that I can't wait to get out there. :)
Sun, Jan. 23rd, 2005, 03:37 am Hello
I just wanted to get this thing up and running, I'll start posting my recs tomorrow a few at a time. I think for now I'll just post one story per entry, simply to make it easier to sort through in the memories. Now to decide which fic to rec first......
